The Cinema Guild, a distributor of foreign films and documentaries, has acquired the rights to distribute Raúl Ruiz's final film, "La Noche de Enfrente," in the United States, the company announced Wednesday.
The film follows an elderly office worker, close to retiring, who begins reliving both real and imagined memories of his life.
Described by the Guild as a "playfully elegiac film," the story was loosely adapted from the Chilean writer Herman del Solar's short stories.
Translated as "Night Across The Street" in English, the movie will open in theaters early next year.

The deal was negotiated by the Guild's Ryan Krivoshey and Francois Margolin of Margo Cinema.
Ruiz, a Chilean-born filmmaker, died last August of a lung infection at age 70.
"La Noche de Enfrente," pictured left with its French movie poster, premiered in Cannes. It was produced by François Margolin and Christian Aspee; and stars Christian Vadim, Sergio Hernandez, Valentina Vargad and Chamila Rodriguez.
